You really do get what you pay forN.D.
Initially I thought I just wanted a simple, cheap little bike basket to throw keys, a purse, extra water bottle or other small items. I knew I wanted the classic wicker basket look. Beyond that I had very few expectations (or so I thought). When I first found this basket it was priced at around $12 with free shipping. A couple weeks later when I actually ordered it the price had gone up to $17 or so. It was still one of the cheapest on Amazon and it had been sitting patiently in my wishlist so I just went ahead and ordered it.My first impression was that the size was perfect but the quality was a little sub par. Having read the reviews I was expecting to replace the straps and knew it wouldn't be perfect so I tried to work with it. After all it WAS a great size and the shape looked as if it would flow nicely with the lines of my cruiser. After attaching it to the handlebars I became a little less sure of how well this basket was going to work. The extremely dry wicker had cracked and split in a couple more spots (it arrived with a few to begin with) but it DID look pretty good from a distance. Still believing I could make it work at a later point with some glue and paint on the top rim (where most of the cracking occurred) I took it for a ride. It was too loose, bouncing around immediately so I tightened the straps a little. More cracking and splitting. Still no biggie, I figured some glue and paint could still fix it. I rode for a couple blocks and headed back home. I grabbed a water bottle and my purse - maybe 4 lbs combined or so - and went for another quick ride. MORE CRACKING. So to test it further I left the smooth sidewalk and rode on a gravel path. Oh yeah, even more cracking and splitting.I thought about trying to soak it and see if it would help.Read more ›

I believe this was a great purchase. I had looked in all my local stores for a bike basket and could not find one, so I was very pleased to find this on amazon. On a recent trip to a larger city however I did find a bike basket at Wal-Mart. It was the exact same price as this one and same quality, so I know I made a good purchase. I put this on my bike as soon as it came in and it looks great. Now I ride my bike to check our mail and have somewhere to put the mail! Great product!

This basket was a gift for my grandaughter. It was a huge disappointment. One of the straps was missing and the other broke the first time we attempted to secure it to the handlebars. The basket is flimsy and cannot be safely attached to a bike with hand brakes. She was so sad!

I bought my wife a new beach cruiser for her birthday and this basket came up as an accessory. It looks nice so I got it too. Used the bike for the first time over the weekend. My wife put a small purse in the basket with not much it. Within 5 minutes the "leather" straps broke in half. At least her bike is awesome.

After finally deciding for this basket, I am happy to say that disappointment did NOT follow. It is a perfect fit for my Cadillac comfortbike, with enough space for my water bottle, camera, i-pod and a random shirt with plenty of room left over. It was easy to mount with the adjustable straps. I have even done some little shopping with it, everything stays where you put it and the overall picture simply LOOKS FABULOUS!! Definitely recommend!! :)

I put this basket on my cruiser and I get compliments on it all the time! My only complaint is that you have to put the basket on the tightest notch on the straps so it doesn't wobble around, but as long as the leather stays taut, I'm sure I'll have a great experience with this basket! I'm keeping my bike indoors, or covered to avoid water and weather damage. Great bargain and quality product!

The product is very cheap feeling. It's dry; it cracks; the straps seem to have a tensile strength of about 2 pounds. That said, don't put anything too valuable in it. I am afraid that the wind resistance from driving with my bike on my trunk will rip the basket off. I gave it a star for looks and price. The straps will also not tighten well enough for most bikes. If you want something sturdy, go with another product.

succcch a good buy. my dad bought me a beach bike, so i decided to order this basket to go along with it. it arrived 2 days later, and i ordered it at a normal shipping thing, not expedited. my dad was happy that i bought it too :)
