I really enjoyed this mouse. It has some weight to it and the precision is awesome. The extra buttons make it very useful too.The problem is reliability and support. Mine died after 4 months and when I searched through the forums for help I discovered this brand has a ton of issues with lasers dying. I could have accepted it but Madcatz customer support is horrible. They have you jump through hoops trying different things without any intention of backing up their product. It's always the same excuses "reinstall the driver" or "clean the lens". As if I didn't try that first! For the price, I expected much better support and a warranty that would be honored. For half the price I decided to buy a different brand and it actually had nearly all the same features and more programmable buttons. I'd rather pay less if I'm going to take a risk. All I'm saying is beware. To be honest.....this is the first mouse I ever had fail on my like this.

The Mad Catz R.A.T.5 Gaming Mouse is one of the most comfortable mice I have ever used for everyday computing. Unfortunately, I rarely have time to play games on my PC anymore, but I do use the R.A.T.5 while working and it is precise, responsive, smooth and accurate. It is well made and its adjustability helps make it very comfortable; I like the little shelf that keeps your thumb from rubbing the desktop. The buttons have a nice, crisp feel; a few more customizable buttons would be helpful. Most surfaces have a matte black rubberized finish. Adjustable DPI is useful for work. The knobby scroll wheel is great, although I would like an alternative free-wheeling mode. The woven cord can get tangled.I've owned the mouse for several years and have not had any problems with it. I've dropped it onto the floor a few times and nothing has broken yet.The mouse garners lots of positive comments because it looks futuristic and expensive. The Mad Catz R.A.T.5 Gaming Mouse is one of the best mice available for around $50 even though the thick woven cable can get in the way at times.

I have owned this mouse for about 6 months and since then, the left-click has begun to malfunction and constantly double-clicks when pressed only once. Drivers re-installed, OS re-installed, and supporting software being re-installed have all had 0 positive effect, leaving me to believe it is purely hardware.Having contacted Mad Catz customer service in order to fix this (as it is under warranty for another 1.5 years), I have been met with constant delays and been all but completely ignored.I would definitely never recommend this mouse to a friend and can certainly say, given this information now, I'm going to make sure the customer service is up to par. Hardware failures occur, but the complete negligence on part of Mad Catz has left a very bad taste in my mouth with their company.

Ill keep this short. I got this mouse about 3-4 months ago and loved it at first. great fit and the button layout felt very natural. after about a month the scroll wheel started to squeak. after about 3 months the L clicker would only work if it was in the top left of the clicker, and if i had my finger resting on it so i knew where to click, the weight of my finger resting on it would push it down without making a noise so would have no idea that it was already pressed. I play a lot of FPS to granted it had some miles on it but not enough for the pricePros: Looks AWESOME, Fits great in most hands, button layoutCons: Wont last!!!

Great mouse and would have given a higher score if it had lasted longer. I primarily got it because you can map keys to the buttons and you can make sensitivity presets that you can jump between with a push of a button. The right click button stopped working after a year. When I took it apart it was because the spring system they used (looked like copper) had fractured. Nothing I could do to fix it. All the cheap mice I have had lasted much longer than a year, so I was disappointed when this one failed.Perhaps I'm a statistical outlier, the mouse seemed like quality material but the spring is incredibly thin and fragile when compared to the rest of the materials. Also one of the side buttons lost its spring but still worked, you just didn't get a satisfying click when you used it. If the two buttons hadn't failed I would have given the mouse 4-5 stars.Maybe if you buy it it will last longer than a year, your gamble.

It was a good mouse until one morning i woke up and the laser stopped working. The buttons still work but no tracking. I've contacted the company, but i'd look for something better.

Being a MOBA player, I know that all of the clicking is tough on mice. However, the tracking on this mouse is terrible. It will stop working mid game and I will have to slam it onto the desk to get it to work again. That being said I so like the design of the mouse and the movable weights but I cannot get over the tracking problem as it is a pretty significant issue. I have owned this mouse for 2 months and problem started around 1.5 months.
