I recently moved into a new apartment and the silverware basket for the dishwasher was missing so I ordered this one online. The dimensions are 8.5" (length) x 7" (width) and 8" (height, including handle). If this matters to you, the color is not white, but rather a light gray color. Also, while the description for this product says there is a hinged cover for smaller items, mine didn't include it. This isn't a big deal to me and on the whole this basket does exactly what I needed it to do. I have used it for almost three months now with no complaints.

With our new home we received a Whirlpool Gold dishwasher. The ultra-thin silverware basket was not useful and didn't let silverware dry at all well compared to the baskets in the last two GE dishwashers we had. I talked to Whirlpool about it. Their answer was, essentially, "tough." Great help....not.I found this old-style square (and cheap) GE basket at Amazon. It works and fits perfectly. Thanks, GE and Amazon. Thanks for nothing, Whirlpool.

The basket is great. It fits perfectly. However, it smells like skunk! It made the entire amazon box which had other items in it smell like it had been sprayed by a skunk. I am running a load of dishes for the second time trying to get the smell out. If that doesn't work, it will have to go back. From my research I have discovered that some plastics from China are emitting odors due to certain chemical additives. Whatever the reason for the smell, I can't give 5 stars to this product.Update - I kept the basket because it was useful. The smell dissipated and finally went away completely after 4 months of consistent usage. No other issues to date.

I have a Maytag and needed a new basket desperately. The Maytag basket was almost $30 and I didn't want to pay that if I could get one that would work for $9, so even though the dimensions didn't seem like they would fit, I ordered this based on reviews. This basket is actually wider than my old basket, but fits better in the slot and holds more silverware. It was here in less than 48 hours! My husband is making fun of how excited I am.

This is like the Cadillac of cheap dishwasher silverware baskets that work with my specific dishwasher model. I probably would not buy another one, because how many of these does one person need in their lifetime? And, also, it seems like something a better landlord would provide for you when you move into an apartment.

The basket dimensions are accurate, the photo is spot on, the description is completely wrong. There is no hinges or doors or anything. What you see is what you get. It is grey as well not white or off white. We bought this for our kenmore dishwasher and it fit fine. No true complaints other that the false description had really hoped for those features as we are always washing frosting tips and bottle parts and other small pieces... But took the gamble as we needed on asap.

My daughter moved into a new apartment and the dishwasher had no silverware basket. This one fits perfect!
