I have been using a plastic covered wire basket in my dishwasher for years. Unfortunately, the plastic tends to tear in the wash and the exposed metal then becomes rusted. After burying my third dishwasher basket, I set out in search of a basket that wouldn't rust. I thought it was a bit odd that the only dishwasher baskets that came up via a search on Amazon were in the "baby" section but I was not dissuaded.I purchased the "Toddler" size basket and it lives in my dishwasher. It is longer, but thinner, than the wire baskets that I've had in the past but I like this size better--I can fit a wider variety of things in it which makes cleaning up after myself that much easier. What goes into the basket: small "Tupperware" lids, small plastic measuring cups, plastic measuring spoons, sport bottle tops, travel mug lids, teeny-tiny bowls, shot glasses, small spatulas, cat food lids, canning jar gaskets. And the list goes on. There is something in the basket every time I run the dishwasher because there is always something small that needs to be washed. What does a dishwasher basket do: it keeps small dishwasher safe items from being blown around during the wash cycle, saving them from the wrath of the heating element as well as possible breakage for the small glass/porcelain items. This basket does a fine job. Everything gets shiny clean and nothing gets damaged--a true win. The only "con" is that, because of the width of the basket and lids, pet food lids need to be placed carefully to keep them from getting stuck between the side rungs.

I got this "DELUXE Toddler Dishwasher Basket" through another site that specializes in baby merchandise. At the time it was not available on Amazon. It works perfectly for the intended purpose which I'll describe. You need a dishwasher basket for the 3 small parts of the baby bottle that otherwise will often find their way to the bottom of the dishwasher and get melted. That's what happened to me before I got my basket, so I have more bottles that parts for the bottles.A baby bottle has 4 parts: the bottle itself, the screw cap that holds the nipple, the nipple and the cover. Those last 3 parts are small and can easily get melted if they fall down to the bottom of the dishwasher. That is why you need the basket. You can place the actual bottles outside the basket, and I never put the bottles in the basket. They wouldn't fit anyway, even in this one, which is probably the biggest basket.I have twins, and I fill up that basket every time I run the dishwasher. There's not much if any room to spare. I'd rather get a bigger basket than a smaller one, so I'd recommend this one for singletons as well. I haven't had problems with the basket; it's just a simple device that opens and shuts. When you take it out of the dishwasher, you turn it upside-down over the sink to get excess water out. Then you place the parts onto a drying rack that should be right next to the sink. The main thing to be aware of is that you only need the basket for the 3 small parts that fit onto the bottle, not for the bottle itself. You can just put those bottles where you put glasses and cups. The bottles won't really fit into the basket properly anyway even if you have a singleton, and forget about trying it if you have twins.

UPDATE:I edited my earlier review after receiving a letter from Prince Lionheart. I purchased this Infant Dishwasher basket because Amazon's description said it was made in the US, which it is not. Prince Lionheart has asked Amazon to correct this. I was told that their original dishwasher basket IS manufactured in the US, but not the Infant model. We did not use the Infant basket, but returned it instead for the Original, US-made model. The Infant basket seems to be well-constructed, and I will leave a review of the Original model once we have used it a few times. However, I wanted to edit my review to let others know that Prince Lionheart is one of those rare companies that does care what their customers think and want; not many companies would respond to a single customer complaint, especially one that some would think of as trivial, such as the country that product was manufactured in.

I don't have kids but I have small stuff that needs to be washed safely. This makes it easy to wash the small stuff like measuring spoons and small lids in the top rack of the dishwasher. Without it, all the small stuff would get lost or ruined when it inevitably flies out of the silverware rack and ends up at the bottom of the dishwasher. I have had more than one dishwasher basket made of the coated wire and they ALWAYS crack and the coating comes off and the basket rusts and I have to throw them out. This is just made of plastic so I don't have to worry about the rusting! Love this basket!

This is a purchase I made for the little things that I normally would not be able to put into the dishwasher. I have been looking for the right one for a long time. If you need to, you can remove the bottom part that is designed for nipples and that's what I chose to do. It does fit in the top of my new top of the line, small-sized GE dishwasher (18" size). For the test run I put in corn on the cob handles, bottle lids, etc. And this size is very large--I would not want a larger size because then it would take up all the space from front to back in the dishwasher. Happy I found this.
